What is the difference between Wordpress and Joomla/Mambo? |

Wordpress and Joomla are 2 different open source CMS software, built with different purpose.
1) Wordpress is essentially a software developed for blogging.
2) Joomla is a full fledged, multi purpose CMS software that can used for not only blogging, but eCommerce store, corporate website, portals and many other applications as well.
Both software are very popular and used commonly. Wordpress is easy to learn as there are limited functionalities compared to Joomla's more complex interface. If you intend to build a small personal site, you may choose to use Wordpress or Joomla. But if you are not developing a blog site, then Joomla is definitely a more suitable choice.
There are other popular open source CMS software as well, such as CMS Made Simple and Drupal. In fact, these are the award winning software and Joomla is also one of them.
